The body of a newborn baby boy was found dumped in a landfill in Sharjah's Al Sajjah area.
The baby's body was found by garbage collectors who came early on Wednesday to dump garbage in the landfill. They immediately informed police.
A police team arrived at the site, collected evidence and transferred the body to the forensic laboratory for investigation, according to a Sharjah Police report.
A police source told Khaleej Times that police suspect that the baby might have been born as a result of an illicit relationship and may have been dumped in the garbage by its parents.
Police have launched an intensive investigation to locate the suspects.
