A restaurant in the shape of the sinking Titanic could be the next big attraction to hit Dubai.
The eatery would feature memorabilia from the hit movie about the disaster and be shaped to look like the cruise liner as it dips below the water.
It’s just one of the ideas proposed for the 10 Hollywood-themed restaurants and bars by the builders of Damac Towers by Paramount, an apartment complex in Downtown Dubai that will be themed around Paramount Studios and its blockbusters such as ‘Titanic’ and ‘The Godfather’.
Damac property consultant Rahul Anand said that families will be able to enjoy the movie-themed entertainment, including the proposed restaurant in the shape of the stricken ship.
“It is a proposal but nothing has been finalised yet,” he said. “It is up to the people at Paramount how they want to present the brand. We see it as looking like a ship sinking.
“It could be sloped like the building is sinking, something like that.” Anand said that entering the complex would be like stepping into Hollywood.
“Even the gardens will be shaped with a Hollywood movie them,” he added.
“The apartments will also be designed by Paramount, so it will be the complete movie experience.”
The apartment project was due to be launched at the Meydan Imax movie theatre in Dubai last night and is expected to be finished by the end of 2015. It will also include a screening room where residents can watch all of Paramount’s pictures.
The studio has not invested any money in the project but did sell the use of its name and the right to use Paramount movies in promotional videos and posters. Stills from ‘Transformers’, ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, ‘The Godfather’ and other movies have been used to promote the scheme.
