A woman in Bahrain was sentenced to six months in prison for biting a policewoman and leaving deep bite marks on her hand.

The incident happened when the 25-year-old Colombian woman visited the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Directorate on Jan. 1, 2017 to renew her stay.

However, she was directed to be taken into custody since she had not paid her fees and her stay was going to be terminated.

When the policewoman put her left hand on the defendant to take her away, the latter bit her, leaving deep bite marks on the back of her hand.

“I approached the woman with a colleague to take her into holding because I was told her stay was going to be terminated,” said the policewoman.

“But she bit my hand and started screaming and crying; other officers helped me to apprehend her.”

The High Criminal Court also ruled that the defendant would be deported after serving her sentence.
