Dubai's Burj Khalifa on Tuesday night was illuminated with the French flag to commemorate France's Bastille Day.

Bastille Day, France's national day, dates back to the 1789 revolution, when citizens stormed the Bastille fortress, a prison that had become a symbol of the harsh rule of the monarch.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's (Adnoc) headquarters in the UAE Capital commemorated Bastille Day in similar fashion.
