Google is celebrating International Women's Day which is an annual celebration that takes place on March 8th with Doodle.
Google's latest International Women’s Day Doodle is an animated slideshow that takes us on a beautiful tour around the world into the everyday lives of women across different cultures.
Inside the tour, people are able to see all kinds of women from a homeworker to a motorcycle mechanic teaching her skills to the next generation.
According to Google, the new International Women's Day Doodle was illustrated by Doodle Art Director, Thoka Maer.
According to the UN, this year's theme for International Women's Day is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow", looking to highlight the contribution of women and girls around the globe, who participate in their communities promoting climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, in order to build a more sustainable future for all.
This day was pointed to mark challenges faced by women across the world starting with gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
The UN observes the holiday in connection with a particular issue, campaign, or theme in women's rights. However, in other parts of the world, this day still reflects its political origins where women usually mark it by protesting and calling for radical change; in other areas, particularly in the West, it is largely sociocultural and centered on a celebration of womanhood.
