An air hostess who is the spitting image of Meghan Markle has signed up as an official lookalike after claiming she is mistaken for the royal every day.

Christine Mathis, who works for JetBlue airline in America, said that the comparisons first began when Meghan appeared in TV drama Suits in 2011 and increased after the actress's engagement to Prince Harry in 2017.

The 32-year-old is now hoping to cash in on the resemblance and has already taken part in a photoshoot with a Duke of Sussex lookalike.

Ms Mathis said that she is mistaken for Meghan nearly every day and that airport security barely believe she is telling the truth about her identity until they check her passport.

The mother-of-one said that passengers would also regularly ask her mid-flight about whether there was a connection to her famous doppelganger.

And she claims even her dermatologist was convinced she was the actress under a fake name when she went to have a mole removed.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Christine said: 'I started getting mistaken for Meghan years ago when I worked in first class.

'It happened a few times so I googled Meghan and it was really flattering. She's stunning, so it's definitely a compliment.

'Passengers always tell me I look like her and say to me, "You're married to a prince, why are you working as an air hostess?"'

Ms Mathis says she now hopes to head into the world of corporate and TV work but dreams of one day playing the Duchess of Sussex on the big screen.
