The Duchess of Cambridge struggles with "mummy guilt" because the royal duties sometimes affect her role as the mother of George, Charlotte, and Louis. Kate Middleton, 38, described herself as the "always busy mom", and said "I think that moms who don't admit their failures are actually lying."
In an interview on the "Happy Mum, Happy Baby" podcast run by Giovanna Fletcher, the Duchess said her royal duties make her skip many motherhood tasks such as driving her kids to school," adding that "Every mother feels that she falls short of expectations, and wants to make sure that she doing her job perfectly."
The interview was conducted at the end of January, after a visit the Duchess made to a nursery in southern London.
"Even non-working mother face challenges while raising their children," Kate said.
The duchess also confirmed that "mothers are always sort of questioning their own decisions and judgments, and things like that start from the moment they have a baby."
Prince William's wife also opened up about the difficulties she experienced during her pregnancies including the severe morning sickness that caused her dehydration, weight loss, and a build-up of toxins in blood and urine.
She also admitted to not being the "happiest" of people while pregnant, noting that: "Lots of people have it far, far worse, but it was definitely a challenge. Not just for me but also for your loved ones around you."
The duchess went on to say: "You know, William didn't feel he could do much to help and it's hard for everyone to see you suffering without actually being able to do anything about it."
The duchess also revealed that during her hard pregnancy experience, she resorted to meditation that helped her overcome her pain.
Kate and her husband Prince William welcomed three children: George in 2013, Charlotte in 2015, and Louis in 2018 at the Lindo wing in St Mary's Hospital, London.
When asked about her feeling while posing in front of crowds holding her newborn after delivery, she answered: "It was slightly terrifying; I'm not going to lie."
Everyone had been so supportive and both William and I were really conscious that this was something that everyone was excited about, and we're hugely grateful for the support that the public has shown us," she said.
