ALBAWABA Jharkhand Police has disbursed a compensation amounting to ₹10 ($12,000)lakhs to the husband of a Spanish woman who was reportedly subjected to gang rape in Dumka on Friday, according to NDTV.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Hansdiha police station while the woman was traveling from West Bengal to Nepal.
Anjaneyulu Dodde, Deputy Commissioner, stated, "We conducted a swift investigation and are extending full assistance to the rape survivor and her husband from the district administration. Under the victim compensation scheme, we have provided them with ₹10 lakhs. We are committed to expediting the trial process and ensuring the perpetrators are convicted."
Local media reports have confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the alleged gang rape of a Spanish tourist in the Dumka district of Jharkhand, India.
The incident occurred on Friday evening as the victim and her husband were traveling by motorbike through the remote terrain of the region.
According to Police Officer Pitamber Singh Kherwar, the couple had chosen to camp overnight in a tent when the assault took place. The woman managed to seek help from a passing police patrol van around 11 PM, following which she received medical attention at a nearby hospital.
Kherwar revealed that three suspects have been apprehended thus far, with ongoing efforts to locate any additional individuals possibly involved in the incident.
