A resident has appeared in a Ras Al Khaimah court for disgracing a friend on Facebook. As per the indictment sheet, the suspect fabricated a video of the victim with some women to dishonour him.

The RAK public prosecution accused the defendant of using social media to defame the plaintiff.

The suspect was referred to the RAK Misdemeanor Court where he admitted to his cybercrime.

He told the court that he copied a photo of the victim from his own Facebook account without his consent. He morphed the photo in a way that the victim appeared to be standing in an indecent way with women.

The accused then made a video and added a recording of the victim to it so that he appeared to be a flesh trader and a pimp. He then asked his friends to post the video on Facebook to disgrace the victim.

When the victim came to know about it, he lodged a complaint before the RAK Police which investigated the issue and arrested the suspect who admitted to his crime.

He was then referred to the prosecution and then to the court, which ordered adjournment of the case to April 16.
