A woman has been charged with disorderly conduct after she was filmed twerking and doing the splits on a moving mustang.

Myscellent Shelton-Cox, 23, was arrested for the misdemeanor offence early Friday morning after a video of her dancing in slow-moving traffic went viral.

A passerby shared a clip of her online when she decided to put on a show for other drivers in Antioch, Tennessee, on September 20.

She was taken in after identifying herself in a TV interview where boasted about the act and even confessed it was not the first time she had done it.

'I take chances with life, you know, because at the end of the day I'm going to live my life, you know, there's too many rules,' Shelton-Cox told WKRN.

Shelton-Cox posted $500 bail less than an hour after her arrest.

The incident occurred on Antioch Pike near the intersection of Blue Hole Road.

An affidavit read: 'The defendant was unrestrained and her actions were causing other motorists to divert their attention.

'The defendant caused undo hazard to other motorists whereby she could have fallen and been struck by other vehicles in the area or her own vehicle.'

Shelton-Cox explained that she and her friend had been stuck in traffic for 20 minutes when she decided to dance.

She claimed the car 'wasn't going too fast' and was travelling at 20mph with the hazard lights on.

Shelton-Cox added: 'I have balance and I did it before so, I know what I'm doing.

'I'm going to put on a show, why not? I'm in traffic anyway why not turn-up in traffic.'

During the interview before her arrest she claimed not to know what she did was against the law and went onto describe another incident 'on Broadway'.

'I had people recording me,' she said.

Shelton-Cox described the incident as 'innocent fun' but advised others not to attempt the stunt.

She said: 'They say it was a crime. I'm not trying to go to jail for being stupid.'

Shelton-Cox will appear in court later next month for a hearing of the charge.
