Egyptian director Fakhr Eddin Nagidah has finished shooting the film Sehr al Oyoun (Eyes Charm) to be screened next July.
“The film tackles fortunetelling in a different way, a modern way, as the fortuneteller here deals with his consumers by fax and e-mail, he uses technology in his work,” the director told the daily al Ahram.
The new film marks actress Nuha al Amrousi’s debut in screenwriting. She was supposed to play the starring role in the film but she preferred not to perform in the first film scripted by her.
“The musical movie belongs to the comedy romantic genre and depicts the girls’ resorting to magic and fraud seeking solutions for their romantic problems, which has become a widespread phenomenon in many societies. This phenomenon has spread in the various levels of classes despite the technological advance and reflected the lagging style of thinking currently prevailing,” Amrousi said.
Costarring in the film, are singer Amer Munib who debuts in acting, Hala Shiha, Ashraf Mselhi, Mohammed Lutfi, Nelly Karam and Hasan Hosni.
Young actress Hala Shiha said that the movie tackles a new subject. “I play the role of a girl who falls in love with advertisements director, but he rejects her love. She and her friend who is in love with a laundry man, go to a fortuneteller seeking solutions for their problems. In a surprise turn of events, the first girl falls in love with the laundry man, while the director becomes passionately in love with second girl,” added Shiha -- Albawaba.com
