The Emirati singer Samar has compared her role in the “Hubbi Wa Hubbak” (My Love and Your Love) video to a butterfly in space, according to the Kuwaiti daily Al Rai Al Am.
“I performed in a number of styles created by video director Amer Al Khuffash as I flew in space like a butterfly,” said the singer. “The director asked me to climb up one of the Fujairah rocks, where the video was being shot, and performing the role of a pixy who comes out of the sea,” added the singer.
The song was written by poet Ahmed Al Sharawi and composed by young singer Hmoud Naser.
The daily cited Samar as saying: “I wasn’t embarrassed when the director asked me to perform in some of the scenes, because they were consistent with the song’s theme... Generally speaking, I’m not the first Gulf singer to stage this kind of performance, since a lot of female singers have preceded me in this activity.”
Responding to a question regarding the audience’s reaction to see her in such roles, she said: “From my point of view, the audience will like this, because it is something different from the prevailing art.” -- Albawaba.com
