Egyptian actress Maali Zayed began shooting the series al Hayat Taoud (Life Returns) directed by Mohammed al Shami in which she plays a character that symbolizes Arab and Egyptian women who sacrifice with everything for the sake of their children.

“I perform the role as a teacher Shams who devotes her life for the sake of raising her children after she looses her husband in October war. She devotes herself for the memory of her husband who dreams to see his children assuming top ranking posts. To achieve this dream Shams indulges herself in the life’s struggle but she remains robust. Whenever she finds difficult, she remembers the image of that hero who sacrifices his soul for the sake of his homeland, so she becomes strong again and faces all those greedy people who want to take over her mall business from which she generates income to spend on bringing up her children.

Although this lady manages to confront all her opponents, rear her children and lead them to the highest ranking positions, she finds herself surrounded with negation of all her sacrifices for her children who attempt to impose a social siege on her,” Zayed told the UAE daily al Bayan.

She added, “the character in this series is new and has many social dimensions particularly at the working class level which I met many examples of in Cairo neighborhoods. There are many examples of Arab and Egyptian women who sacrificed with everything for the sake of their sons and daughters. The series depicts many example of Arab women who live in the same neighborhood including Iraqis, Kuwaitis, Palestinians who lost their husbands either during wars or while defending the al Aqsa Mosque.”

Zayed revealed that she is currently writing the script of a series about a Palestinian lady whose four sons died as martyrs while defending their homeland and 20 years later her last son died as martyr.

“I shall wrap up the script soon and then the production phase will begin. This series perpetuates the role which the Arab Palestinian mother plays and depicts the awful life inside the Palestinian houses,” added Zayed -- Albawaba.com
