Dubai's crown prince and UAE Defense Minister Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktum has ordered the revenues from the Syrian-UAE series al Bahth A’n Salahiddin (Search for Saladin) to be allocated to the families of the Palestinian Intifada martyrs, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Al Maktum has ordered the revenues from the series produced by the Arab Company for Production to be allocated to the families of the Palestinian Intifada martyrs, as part of the UAE financial, political and moral support to the Palestinians to be able to resist the arrogant Israeli policy.

The revenues, which include the proceeds from advertisements and contest that will accompany each episode, are expected to reach about a half million dollars, after screening the series on the Arab TV channels.

Abu Thabi and LBC TV channels screened the series which costs 1,5 million dollars, during last Ramadan.

“Tackling big issues is not an easy thing. We've allocated all our resources to making this effort a success, and attempting to link the character of Saladin with the present status quo within a cinema-TV setting with new images,” the series director Najdat Anzur told the press.

“In order to link the original Saladin with the one whom we are looking for now, we made a poster with picture of Fares Audeh, one of the Intifada martyrs. Revenues from the series will go to the families of the Intifada martyrs,” Anzur added.

Costarring in the series, which was scripted by Mahmoud Abdel Karim, are artists from Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.

“I have not presented the character of Saladin as a superman, but I wrote his struggle's history with future orientation based on documented historical references in a manner addressing current events,” said Abdel Karim – Albawaba.com
