The prominent screenwriter Magdi Saber is currently scripting a new play entitled Shubbeik Lubbeik (I am at your service) especially for the movie star Mahmoud Abdel Aziz. Elham Shahin has been nominated to costar along with Abdel Aziz in the play.
“In the play Mahmoud Abdel Aziz assumes the role as player of folk games from the heritage known at the working class neighborhoods as al Hawi (Sorcerer). The sorcerer eats glass and swallows fire in addition to playing dangerous games in order to make people happy in a pop show in exchange of little money he collects from every spectator at the end of the show,” Magdi told the UAE daily al Bayan.
He added, “in my play, people look at the sorcerer as a popular hero as they surround him after each performance and listen to him while he is talking about his vision as an ordinary man about the events surrounding him and which he described as needing a sorcerer who is capable of fighting corruption by playing the same games the corrupted people play.
Things go on and the sorcerer decides to become a hero delegated by his naive fans to defend their rights and solve their problems with the government. At this point he starts his journey by reviewing through drama performances all the deficiencies of the laws which hinder the people interests and push them to make conflicts with the law enforcing agencies. The play then tackles a number of sticky issues particularly political ones through the various parties representing the majority and opposition.” -- Albawaba.com
