Just as Tunisian director Shawqi Al Majri was close to finish the filming of the new drama series “Asmahan” which talks about the late singer Asmahan; her nephew prince Faisal Al Atrash shocked the director and crew when he announced the banning of the new series.
Prince Faisal the son of Prince Fouad Al Atrash Asmahan’s brother got permission from the Syrian minister of communication to ban the airing of the new drama series which is about his aunt “Asmahan” or selling it to any satellite channel before going back to the lawful inheritors. He also asked to fix the changes on the series that he requested since he is the only person to inherit “Asmahan” beside her only daughter Camilla.
Prince Faisal announced that he is very sad for the untrue events that were added to the script of the series and he added that it is far from the truth. He says that the new series shows disrespect to his family who had played a major role in the lives of Arabs since the end of the 19th century up until now. Prince Faisal also says that most of the drama that was played out in the new series is not true and is not based on any historical facts.
On his behalf Prince Faisal denied that money was the reason behind banning the new series.
The story of the series is written by Mamdouh Al Atrash and Qamar Al Zaman Aloush. The scenario is written by Syrian Nabil Al Malih and Egyptian Basyouni Othman. The series stars a number of leading actors from various Arab countries like “Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia”.
From Syria Solaf Fawakhirji is taking the leading role of playing the legendary singer ‘Asmahan’, Abed Fahed plays ‘Hasan Al Atrash’ and Firas Ibrahim plays ‘Fouad Al Atrash’. From Egypt Amal Riziq plays ‘Aminah Al Baroudi’, Yousif Shaban plays ‘Ahmad Hasanien’, Ahmad Shaker Abed Al Latif plays ‘Farid Al Atrash’, Baha Tharwat plays ‘Muhammad Al Tabie’ and many more.
The new series plays out the life of the late singer and great details about her birth and her mysterious death. The series also discusses various details about the different historical stages during her time and how politics played a major role in her life.
