Syrian drama series “Bab Al Hara 1 & 2” (Neighborhood Gate 1 & 2) was very successful, although production of the third installment is facing problems.

Arabic satellite channel MBC was set to produce the series with Basam Al Mala, but discovered that ‘Aaj Production Company’ has sole rights to the series.

The second part of the series was a success this past Ramadan season, although critics claim the quality of the series declined after producer Basam Al Mala suffered a heart attack causing a three month absence.  Producer Ala Al Deen Kokash took his place, but he was busy with other projects.  One of the leading stars of the series, Abbas Al Noury had to fill in as a producer during the filming of certain episodes.

At a recent press conference MBC said the third part of “Bab Al Harah” will discuss historical and social events, but will not touch on politics. Al Mala is thinking of keeping the same cast crew.

The “Bab Al Harah” series has starred several famous Syrian actors, like Abbas Al Noury, Sabah Al Jaza’iri, Samer Al Masri, Abed Al Rahman, Salim Klas, Hasan Al Dakak, Wafa’ Al Mosali, Hudda Sha’rawi and Dima Al Jundi.
