43 films to participate in Moscow Film Fest

Moscow Film Festival will kick off next Friday with 43 films from 20 countries in the contest and 14 films competing for festival gold award, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).  

Among the competing films are, “The Damned” by director Dan Svatek, “Earth’s Calling” by director Vahim Mosaian, “Secret Life” by director Susane Amaral and “Chekhov Issues” by Kira Muratova. There is also director Carlos Reygadas’ film “Japan” and Bob Rafelson’s “A House in Turkish Street”.  

The judges panel is headed by renowned Russian writer Chingiz Aytmatov and comprises Iranian director Raqshan E’timad, Russian director Karen Shahnazarov and other well-known directors and cinema experts from Taiwan, Australia, and France.  

The festival chairman director Nikita Mikhalkov said in a press conference that the festival is better than ever this year with many international celebrities taking part and attending.  

Mikhalkov also pointed out that Russia is participating with a number of films including “Unity of Blood” by director Roman Prygunov, “Cuckoo” by Alexandr Rogozhkin and “Mutiny” by Alexandr Proshkin – Albawaba.com
