Whilemany stars across the Arab world have tried their hand at khaliji (Gulf region) music, much to the disappointment of Kuwaiti singer Abdullah Ruwaished, Lebanese superstars Elissa and Najwa Karam are yet to jump on the bandwagon.
In an interview with popular magazine 'Zahrat Al Khaleej', the Kuwaiti star said: “I wonder why Elissa hasn't yet sung in the Khaliji dialect? She has such a soft and powerful voice.” He went on to say that if only Elissa would make the plunge into khaliji music, she would be guaranteed success.
And it seems Abdullah does more than just talk about this - he dreams about it too.
The singer admitted that he dreams Elissa would take on one of his own khaliji compositions, saying: "I would reassure her that I will stand by her side and guide her throughout the new experience and she will be under my wings.”
But Elissa's not the only Lebanese star Abdullah wants to convert to khaliji, he has his eye on Najwa Karam too.
Abdullah said that if Najwa came to him with lyrics, he would have a backing track ready by the next day.
However, it looks as though Abdullah could be fighting a lost cause. The singer has reportedly already had several failed meetings with Najwa with many of the songstress' fans saying she will stick with Lebanese dialect until the end.
