Prominent Egyptian comedian actor Adel Imam denied rumors that he was kicked out of the Lebanese village Duhoor Al Shuwair during a recent visit due to his stance during the 2006 Israeli attacks on Lebanon. Adel stated that the rumors are lies for the mere fact that he did not visit Duhoor AL Shuwair, but rather had gone to numerous mountainous villages in Lebanon to film scenes for his upcoming television drama “Naji Attalah Group”.
Adel said that the villages he visited he and the crew of the drama were warmly welcomed and given all necessary accommodations by officials and the locals. He added that crowds of people had eagerly surrounded the filming sites and wanted to take photographs.
The mayor of Duhoor Al Shuwair had informed the press that he forbade Adel and the crew of the drama from entering the village due to Adel’s political position and comments during the events of 2006. It was said that Adel had ridiculed the Lebanese opposition against Israel and he had thought that it is not a victory where over a thousand children are injured and dead.
Adel stressed that his position with regards to the events of 2006 was very honorable and he was completely against the Israeli attacks on Lebanon. He added that he would never ridicule opposition to Israeli ruthless attacks on any Arab country.
The drama is written by Yousif Maati and directed by Rami Imam.
