Hello? It's Adele's Turkish fans, they're calling to ask if the British superstar has "stolen" her new single "Million Years Ago" from the late Kurdish singer Ahmet Kaya!
The popular hit, from her new album "25," sounds awfully similar to the iconic Kurdish musician's single "Acılara Tutunmak" ("Clinging to Pain"), which was recorded in 1985.
While fans of the deceased star took the matter seriously and to heart on social media in Turkey, his wife, Gulten Kaya, also weighed in, saying an international star like Adele wouldn't do such a thing.
"However, if she consciously did it, then it would be theft," she told Turkish daily Posta.
This rings a bell with American rapper and music producer Jay Z's Arab fans, who were recently outraged with the singer for "stealing" late Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez's song "Khosara" (What a Shame), and using it in his 1999 hit single "Big Pimpin'."
Jay Z won the legal battle against claims that he plagiarised the famous tune, but will Adele be able to prove that her work is original?
Listen to both songs and judge for yourselves!
