Several unofficial sources in Paris said yesterday that renowned Egyptian actress Sharihan passed away earlier yesterday after a critical tumor surgery she underwent in one of Paris's well known hospitals.
The daily Al Khabar newspaper reported Friday that Shrihan has died immediately after the doctors removed a tumor in her right cheek, at the Pitie Salpetriere hospital in Paris.
Doctors refused to comment on the news, but have earlier announced that they will be waiting for at least one week after the surgery to see if Sharihan's body would accept the new organ transplanted from her thigh.
In the last two months, many rumors has been spread about Sharihan's health problems, none of which was confirmed until the concluding ceremony of the 18th Alexandria Film Festival.
The festival has witnessed a moment of silence and tears as producer Mamdouh al Laithi read a letter from Sharihan apologizing for not being able to come and share the happy moment of receiving her Best Actress prize with the people. "I'm facing a serious health problem, and I ask all people to pray for me in order to pass the critical surgery I’m going to do tomorrow," were Sahrihan's words, which forced tears in the eyes of many audiences in the hall.
On the other hand, the London-based Al Sharq al Awsat newspaper reported in its Saturday issue that Sharihan's family denied all rumors about their daughter's death and confirmed that doctors are still waiting for her recovery. – Albawaba.com
