Ahmed Zaki Wins Best Actor Award at Egyptian Film Fest

Film Star Ahmed Zaki won the best actor award for the film Ayyam al Sadat (Sadat Days) during the concluding ceremony of the 50th Egyptian Film Festival held Friday at the Nile Hall. 

The best actress award of the festival which is organized yearly by the Catholic Center in Cairo, went to actress Mervat Amin for her role in the film Ula Thanawi (First Secondary). 

The director of Ayyam al Sadat, Mohammed Khan won the best director award, while the best scenario award went to Asharaf Mohammed for the film Ula Thanawi which its star Noor al Sherif won the jury special award. Also, each of actors, Maher Esam, Ahmed Hasanein and Sherif Badawi, won a certificate in appreciation for his role in the same film. 

Moreover, Ula Thanawi won the audience award for the purposeful moral and social issue it tackles.  

The young actress Maya Shiha won a certificate in appreciation for her role in the film Asrar al Banat (Girls Secrets).  

The special award of the Catholic Center went to actress Elham Shahin for her role in the TV film Wehiat Albi wa Afraho (By My Heart and Its Joys) which also won the best TV film award. Actor Ahmed al Saqqa won the center incentive award, while actor Yehia al Fakhrani won the best TV actor award for his role in the series Leladala Wuguh Kasira (Justice Has Many Faces).  

The Seven films which competed in the formal contest are: Ayyam Al Sadat (Sadat Days), Ula Thanawi (First Secondary), Asrar Al Banat (Girls Secrets), Africano, Etfarag Ya Salam (What a Wonder, Have a Look), Gaheem Taht Al Ard (Hell Underground), and Gawaz Bi Qarar Gomhuri (Marriage by Presidential Decree).  

The jury was headed by the Egyptian actor Ezzat al A’alaili and included Shwikar, Laila Olwi, Athar al Hakim, Ahmed Bedeir, A’laa Karim, Farouq Sabri, Mohammed Basyouni, Iris Nazmi and Eqbal Barakeh as members.  

As part of its activities, the festival honored the artists Laila Fouzi, Hasan Mustafa, Sayyed Abdel Karim, Sanaa Yunes and Eqbal Barakeh -- Albawaba.com
