“September 11th” is the title of the film to be screened tomorrow at the concluding ceremony of Alexandria International Film Festival held at Mubarak’s Conference Center in the Egyptian town of Ras al Teen, according to Al Ahram daily newspaper.
The Egyptian renowned director Yousef Shahin was among 11 international directors who collaborated in the film starring Nour al Sherif, Sanaa Younes and Ahmed Fuad Salim.
On another side, last Friday, the festival held its second conference entitled “The Impact of TV on Cinema”. The two-hour conference was attended by top ranking officials from the TV Corporation.
Mustafa Moharram, the head of the conference, talked about the TV role in bolstering the cinema industry, and explained the link between TV and cinema, suggesting that TV depended on the cinema in its early days.
"The emergence of the satellite channels has hit the cinema industry leading to a crisis," Moharram has said, adding that it's the same fact that made the Minister of Information, Safwat al Sherif, take a decision to establish the Media Production City and the Cinema Agency afterwards, "to lift the cinema industry from its current crisis."
Mamdouh al Laithi then revealed that the reason behind the establishment of the largest media establishment was to qualify the new generations of the talented youth as was the case with TV since it was launched. Scenarist Abdel Rahman Mahfouz called for the need to consider producing national and documentary films along with drama movies. – Albawaba.com
