Lebanese singer Alissa has recently wrapped up recording a duet song entitled Lebanese Nights along with the international singer Chris de Burgh who inspired the lyrics from his last visit to Lebanon in 2000.
The song will be released in the international markets as part of a CD for Burgh next July.
Alissa told the Kuwaiti daily al Rai al A’m, “During his last visit to Lebanon, Chris de Burgh wrote the lyrics of this song, composed and dubbed them “Lebanese Nights”. Then he started seeking a young Lebanese female singer to participate with him in singing. Burgh appreciated my voice after he listened to the songs sent to him by my business manager who had a previous connection with the international artist. After he selected me from a list of many singers whom he listened to their voices I went to London where we recorded the song which will be released shortly. The song has been remade by Chris Porter who usually remakes the songs of Robbie Williams and George Michael.”
She added, “I shall sing in both English and Arabic and Chris also learnt some Arabic words.”
The young singer expressed her pride for participation in the duet along with Burgh whom she described as “an international artist. I never thought that I would be given the opportunity to sing along with him. I am very happy and cannot hide my feelings as every artist aspires to become international,” she added.
This is not the first time for Alissa to be involved in a duet with international singers. “The first time was with a member of the Maritano Troupe in addition to participation with Sting and now with de Burgh,” she said.
Alissa’s dreams are many and she confirms that she will record a breakthrough in her new song. “I believe that I will make up for a two-year sabbatical. Everybody knows that I performed in a concert under the auspices of the Jordanian Queen Rania in presence of the US former president Bill Clinton. I was the only Arab artist who participated in this concert,” said Alissa -- Albawaba.com
