ALBAWABA - Angelina Jolie is reportedly 'devastated' at her Oscar snub for her starring part in Maria, with insiders claiming Hollywood has sided with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Jolie's performance as the late opera singer Maria Callas in the Pablo Larraín-directed drama was praised by critics, but it was revealed on Thursday that it was not nominated for Best Actress at the 2025 ceremony.
In order to fully embrace the "personal" character, Jolie, who won an Oscar 25 years ago, learned to sing opera and even went through a demanding Hollywood press cycle to promote the Netflix movie.
The announcement was made soon after she was not nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for the dramatic performance.

Although she was nominated for Best Actress at the 2018 Golden Globes, Fernanda Torres, a well-known Brazilian actress, won the prestigious award for I'm Still Here.
Jolie, 49, 'wanted to get nominated,' thus being dismissed by the Academy may 'devastate' her.
"Angelina will be heartbroken." The source revealed, "Look at all the press she did for the film— she wanted to get nominated."
She performed on Jimmy Fallon, her first late-night appearance in more than ten years. She attended the Gotham Awards as well. All of these magazine covers were created by her.
The site was informed by an unnamed Hollywood awards expert that the actress will "undoubtedly be upset" over the Academy's lack of recognition, saying it "wasn't great for Angelina – or Netflix,' who produced Maria."

According to another insider, Jolie's snub was connected to her acrimonious divorce from fellow Oscar winner Brad Pitt, which was settled last month following an eight-year battle.
They contended that Brad continues to be Hollywood's golden boy, while Jolie is heavily favored by international media.
According to the insider, "this just shows that Hollywood is Team Brad." Although that's hardly Hollywood, the Globes demonstrated how much the international press adores her. People really adore Brad, therefore no one was going to vote against him and support Angelina.
Social 'politics' can play a role during awards season, according to another insider, but the Academy chose to nominate a number of newcomers rather than previous winners like Nicole Kidman and Angelina, whose performance in the sensual film Babygirl was also disregarded.
"Yes, politics does play a role in addition to the movies and performances, but the divorce is over." However, the fact that so many first-time nominees demonstrate that the sector is still thriving, the insider told the publication on Thursday.
