Most perception of the Middle East and the Arab world in general comes from Western media. It's difficult, for a variety of political and social reasons, for Arab artists to tell their own stories.
But sometimes artists do emerge—buried under misconception, their work rises like flowers from cement. These Arab artists used the #ArabArtists hashtag on Twitter to showcase their art, and we thought we'd show-off some of it.
