Controversial views are not limited to the Jews in Israel and the US, but also have been extended to scholars in the Arab World. Historians have accused Mohammad Subhi, star of “Faris Bila Jawad” (Knight Without a Horse) of fabrication of facts and invalid historical dates.
According to the Saudi daily, Al Riyadh, scholars accused Subhi of giving false credit to himself for the story of the drama, when in fact it was taken from a book written by Hafith Ibrahim in 1946 called “Confessions of Hafith Najib”. Subhi denied that the movie is a biography of Hafith Ibrahim, but he contradicted himself by portraying Hafith Ibrahim as a patriotic hero when in fact he was a traitor the daily added.
Another point of dispute that historians made was that Subhi’s portrayal of Ibrahim as a journalist when infact he was a schoolteacher at a time when Zionism and and Israel’s conspiracy to take over Palestine were non-existent in Egyptian society. Subhi on the other hand presented Ibrahim as a hero fighting against the Jews.
The portrayal of Hafith Ibrahim as a priest is another point of disapproval by Arab historians, as Ibrahim was Muslim. Dr. Younan Labib Riziq professor of History at A’ain el Shams University, attacked the drama saying that most of the historical events Ibrahim was present in (as shown by Subhi), were not mentioned in any history book, straying away from the facts and intentionally fabricating historical events.
Dr. Riziq added that in the period between 1907 and 1919, Egypt’s political interests were regarding internal matters and strengthening the relation between Egypt and the British Empire. Egypt had no interest in external affairs or the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" and the idea was not on their current agenda. He also noted that interest in the Jewish state and affairs did not come about until later on in time. -Albawaba.com
