Just like many of her fellow Arab celebrity friends, Syrian superstar Asala mourned the death of Jordanian pilot Mou'ath al-Kasasbeh -who was burned alive by ISIS on February 3, 2015 - with a series of heartfelt words on Twitter.

But not everyone appreciated the pain and sadness outpouring from the grieving starlet. Asala was made fun of by hundreds of social media users for sympathizing with Mou'ath, while not showing the same kind of sympathy for those dying in her war-torn country, Syria.

Asala was further ridiculed for supporting the Syrian opposition, whose forces include members of ISIS; the same people she was furious at for killing the "hero pilot," according to Al Jaras magazine.

But Asala was having none of it and responded to her haters tweeting, "Mou'ath doesn't only represent himself, but all the hero Martyrs as well. My grief for him is great because his death erupted emotions of sadness in my heart for my brothers and family in my country. When it comes to sadness, I don't base my sadnes on whether they're pro or against the Syrian government."

She continued, "I have loved ones in Syria whom I wish no harm, and this is just to clarify to those who want to know and make fun of my emotions."

At the time of the pilot's death, a devastated Asala tweeted, "I've just heard what happened to pilot Mou'ath al-Kasasbeh. I can't believe how beastly and inhumane this is, I swear even beasts never seize to surprise you. They're so ugly.

"I wish I could hug hero Mou'ath's mum and dad right now and cry together until there are no more tears to shed. Mou'ath doesn't only represent himself, he represents many more martyrs like himself. I'm terribly saddened by his death."
