Award winning Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi has condemned Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip in the last three weeks.
Farhadi, director of Oscar-winning drama A Separation, donated blood to the war-stricken people of Gaza to announce his solidarity with the oppressed people.
A group of Iranian cineastes along with a number of artists staged their humanitarian movement through donating blood at Iran’s Blood Transfusion Organization.
“Israel’s action in Gaza is of a dictatorial nature and I hope the killings will stop very soon,” Farhadi said during a gathering held by a group of cineastes at Tehran Blood Transfusion Center on Saturday.
“Fortunately, the world has seen the crimes of the Israelis in Gaza and the people of the world have given a negative response to the inhumane behavior,” he also noted.
Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip since July 8. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian territory on July 17.
The death toll from the ongoing Israeli aerial and ground attacks in the war-stricken Gaza Strip is on the rise. About 1,500 Palestinians have been killed and over 8,000 injured following 25 days of Israeli aerial and ground assaults on the Gaza Strip.
Over 80 percent of the Palestinian fatalities have been reportedly civilians, including over 300 children.
