The echo of success that “Bab Am Yebki” (My door is crying) accomplished among Lebanese and Arab fans has affected the owner of the song Lebanese singer Assi Hilani in a very positive manner. Hilani feels that the lyrics and the way the song was composed is what made it a successful one.
The other reason behind its success was the way Hilani filmed the video clip. The clip was emotional and filming took place in Turkey with the assistance of a Turkish actress.
The success of “Bab Am Yebki” has encouraged Hilani to compose a second song. He chose a poem written by the Lebanese poet Traiba Rahmah, who is a Lebanese judge that writes poetry. Rahmah had previously given Hilani a copy of his poetry and welcomed the idea for Hilani to compose a poem.
According to the Saudi daily Al Hayat, Hilani says that the new song is also affectionate, yet it won’t be composed in a romantic manner like “Bab Am Yebki”. Hilani has finished composing the new song and will record it soon to add it to the other 10 songs that will be included in his upcoming album. Hilani’s new album will be a mix of styles combining folklore, modern and Bedouin.
Hilani is considered to be the oldest among Arabic singers to film video clips, and since so many of them take a whole season to finish up filming a song or two; Hilani has filmed 3 video clips in a two month period. The first clip took place in Anjar for the song “Sawt Al Hada” (Someone’s Voice), the second in Al Biqa’ area, which is a special dedication to the Lebanese army and the third filmed in Malaysia.
Hilani makes clear that there is a fourth song as well he intends on filming. Assi revealed that his album won’t be launched until most of his songs from his previous album are aired on television.
