Lebanese singer Assi Hilani has throughout his career achieved success in composing his songs. One of his latest songs that has made a big success is “Bab Am Yebki” (The Door is Crying) which turned eyes on him among leading other signers to request that he composes songs for them.
Hilani welcomed the idea of composing to other singers, and Lebanese singer Amal Hijazi has been the first to have her song composed by Hilani.
Hilani agreed to choose a song for Hijazi; where he would select the words and also compose it for her. Hilani isn’t considered to be a poet but he reads a lot of poetry from which he uses the words for his songs.
The words for the newest song he composed for himself “Bab Am Yabki” were picked from a poem by the poet Al Qadi Tarbyeh Rahmah. Rahmah gave to Hilani his poem two years ago. Hilani has chosen another poem from Rahmah which he has composed into a song, and will record next month.
Away from his composing Hilani is now waiting for Baalbek International Festival for this year. Hilani will star in the dancing play for the group “Karakela.” The play was scheduled for last July, but it was postponed for this summer because of the war on Lebanon.
