The star-studded seventh annual ‘Silla Women’s Film Festival’ started out solemnly with a moment of silence in honor of the celebs who are no more, but the event livened up when the big guest of honor took to the stage.
Egyptian actress Athar Al Hakim received a big fancy plaque to post on her wall that can always help remind friends and family of just how fabulous she is. The award was an honor not only for her mad acting skillz, but for her contributions to country and society as well.
According to Sayidaty.net, when the actress stepped up to the mic she took a quick sec to rectify a very important error. Every woman’s worst dream came true for the starlet with an incorrect birthdate being published in her bibliography. She swore three times that she was younger than the 55 years she was attributed!
Things were all well and funny until Athar turned things political by handing General Al Sisi props for giving Egypt a second chance, rescuing it from the rule of the Brotherhood, who abused the teachings of Islam.
Moroccan Family Minister Basima Al Haqqawi, who was asked to present the plaque to Athar, was all like, “Oh no, she didn’t!”
Turns out, the offended Minister belongs to the Moroccan Muslim party, and never was an “honorary award” so coldly bestowed.
She took things passive aggressive with a closing statement of, "Yes for the nation. No for ruthlessness, and may political selfishness go to hell."
Athar may have received this honorary award, but don’t plan on her winning a popularity contest anytime this Arab Spring!
