Popular Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef said on Twitter that he has not visited Egypt because journalist and political activist Ismail al-Iskandarani was arrested at Hurghada airport upon his arrival from Germany to visit his sick mother. He fears the same could happen to him.
Iskandarani is a researcher at the Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights and a freelance journalist for the Al-Safir Al-Arabi newspaper.
