ALBAWABA - Yesterday, Egyptian comedian, Bassem Youssef's X account was removed from the platform angering pro-Palestine users and activists.
People were quick to accuse X and its CEO Elon Musk of taking down Youssef's account over "Antisemitic" comments but recently, the Egyptian comedian took to his official Instagram account and said otherwise.
Bassem Youssef says that his account wasn't taken down by X
In a captionless Instagram post, Bassem Youssef said, "No my account wasn't taken down by X, and I don't wish to falsely victimize myself using this."
He then added that the reason behind closing his X account was for the safety of his family and said he might consider coming back if they are "alleviated."
This all comes after the comedian claimed to have received death threats from pro-Israel activists which also put his family in danger.
Youssef also stated how he wants to deal with the issue at hand away from social media but he will keep posting content on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
His last post on X criticized Israelis using "Antisemitism" as a fear tactic to shut down conversations and scare people into talking their minds.
Moreover, his account which garnered more than 11 million followers is now blank with the message, "Something went wrong, try again" written on it.

He's also proudly married to a Palestinian wife, Hala Diab since 2010 and has two children, Nadiya and Adam Bassem Youssef.
