Iraqi singer Sahar Taha will perform on Sunday on Al Madinah stage in Beirut an Iraqi concert called Lailah Baghdadiyah (A Baghdad Night), according to the daily Al Nahar.
The concert, which will include singing and Iraqi Muwashah and folk songs, is part of activities organized by Masrah Al Madina for Ramadan.
Taha has recently returned from Tunisia where she performed three similar concerts at the City Festival after her participation in the 10th Arabic Music Conference in Cairo.
“I shall perform keys from the Iraqi heritage which represent a type of singing for men as it requires special voices and mastering of tunes and rhythm. This is in addition to folkloric songs from our heritage whose writer and composers are anonymous. I will also sing for the late Iraqi renowned singer Nazem Al Ghazali who is well known in the Arab world on his eightieth birthday anniversary which falls Sunday. The credit for the fame enjoyed by the Iraqi song abroad goes to Ghazali,” the Iraqi singer told the daily.
Taha will be accompanied in the concert with the Lebanese artists including Adel Naseriddin, a dulcimer player, Mahmoud Al Ajroush, flutist, Saddam Hamiyeh, violinist and Ali Wahbeh, on the tambourine.
At the Arabic Music conference, which was held between November 1-10, Taha was a jury member at a contest in which 30 singers from Egypt and the Arab world competed -- Albawaba.com
