ALBAWABA - The fall season of anime has recently started airing with many beloved series making a come back including Dr. Stone, Spy x Family, and Shield Hero but what if we told you, there is one series that surprised us the most because of its compelling story and stunning visuals?

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) is the anime in question; it's a series based on the popular light novel written by Natsu Hyuuga and illustrated by Touko Shino. The show aired on Oct. 21, 2023, with three episodes, and inspired a mini-series that premiered simultaneously with it.
This is the best-looking anime of fall 2023!
OLM/ TOHO animation STUDIO
The Romance/Drama light novel was first serialized online in 2011 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, taking more than a decade for it to receive a TV anime!
The animation studio behind The Apothecary Diaries is OLM, which is known for making beautiful and stunning anime adaptations such as Komi-San Can't Communicate and one of our favorite series of last year, Summertime Rendering.
This series is stunning for its beautifully drawn character designs, smooth and well-drawn animations whether it's for the characters or effects, detailed background design, and last but not least the vibrant color palette. In addition, we rarely see anime based in ancient China from Japan.
By the time of writing this article, The Apothecary Diaries has garnered a score of a whopping 8.57/ 10 on My Anime List and an 8.9/ 10 on IMDB which is a huge achievement for anime ratings.

The Apothecary Diaries tells the story of a 17-year-old girl known as Maomao in ancient China who gets kidnapped and forced to work as a servant at the emperor's palace.
After facing these unfortunate events, Maomao strives to finish her years of service as quietly and efficiently as possible for her freedom. Momoa is a sharp-witted and smart woman who is also knowledgeable in medicine, she ends up encountering an unexpected individual called Jinishi, an influential eunuch who recognizes her talents.
Join Momoa on her journey while she climbs the ranks and makes a name for herself thanks to her sharp wit and knowledge of medicine.
The Apothecary Diaries is available to watch on Disney+ for international audiences.
