Singer Beyonce has chosen to be photographed in the creation of a Dubai designer in a book dedicated to her current world tour.
The ‘Mrs Carter Show World Tour’ book features the star - rumoured to be pregnant with her second child - in a dress created by Syrian designer and Dubai resident Rami Al Ali.
The designer, who has lived in Dubai for 16 years, described the ‘Single Ladies’ singer choosing to wear his outfit as “an honour”.
“I think it adds credibility to my work seeing it worn in a photoshoot of Beyonce,” said Al Ali. “Having a big A-list celebrity like Beyonce - who has worn the designs of some of the world’s top designers - put that amount of trust in your work is good.” He added that the dress costs “roughly Dhs35,000, about $15,000”.
The one-off couture piece was created as “an installation” rather than to be worn out and about.
However, Al Ali said the design could be modified for any fashion fans wanting to follow in the footsteps of the ‘Crazy in Love’ star.
Al Ali said the design was inspired by the mashrabiya, the carved wooden ornament that is placed in front of the window in Islamic architecture.
Al Ali has studios in Dubai, Paris, and Los Angeles in the US.
