Keyboardist/vocalist Joe Buras has announced his departure from Born of Osiris. In a statement left on social media, he cited personal reasons and aspirations for leaving the band.

Joe Buras, the keyboardist and co-vocalist of progressive metalcore band Born Of Osiris, has announced his departure from the group after 21 years of service. 

Buras was one of the founding members of the band, which started as Diminished in 2003 and later changed its name to Your Heart Engraved and then Born Of Osiris.

Buras revealed his decision in a heartfelt statement on social media, citing personal growth and aspirations as his reasons for leaving. He thanked the fans and supporters for their passion and dedication, and expressed his gratitude to his bandmates for being incredible collaborators and friends. He also said he was excited about the future and the new opportunities that await him.

Born Of Osiris also commented on Buras’ exit, saying they were thankful for his undeniable talent and charisma, and his contribution to their music and performance. They said they would continue to operate with extreme passion, as evident from their latest release, Angel or Alien, which came out on July 2nd. They also wished Buras the best in his future endeavors.

Buras’ departure comes as a shock to many fans, who have grown accustomed to his distinctive keyboard work and vocal harmonies that added a unique dimension to Born Of Osiris’ sound. Buras was also known for his energetic and charismatic stage presence, often engaging the crowd and jumping around the stage. His last performance with the band was at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Virginia on September 11th.

Born Of Osiris has not yet named a replacement for Buras, despite having upcoming tour dates in North America and Europe. The band is currently promoting their sixth studio album, Angel or Alien, which features 14 tracks of technical and melodic metalcore, with themes of loss and rebirth. The album has received positive reviews from critics and fans alike, and is considered one of their best works to date.
