Cairo’s International Conference Center was reserved last night, 20th August, for the grand opening of Cairo’s annual song festival (Cairo’s International Song Festival). The opening presentation by Dr. Al-Biltaji, Minister of Tourism, addressed guests and attending officials honoring them for their presence, followed by Angham’s breathless performance easing the hearts of the audience.
Konouz Insan (Human Treasure), lyrics by Baha’ Gahine, was performed in three languages (Arabic, English and French) calming down their souls after a splendid experience brought by an Irish tap dancing group. Bringing the performance to its intermission, an appearance by Anthony Canalize and the Spanish Flamingo was extra-ordinary.
The second half of the festival held a less spectacular atmosphere, as the Tango Dance along with a professional Orchestra was the highlight for the rest of the night. Coming to an eventual close, Dr. Al-Biltaji accompanied with a number of officials, gave the final words congratulating and distributing trophies to all the festival’s participants.
