Hollywood and TV celebrity cookbooks that rely on star power to stir up sales are a recipe for poor health, the Physicians' Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) said Wednesday December 13.

The doctors pored over cookbooks by such well-known names as decorating doyenne Martha Stewart, TV star Suzanne Somers and former heavyweight boxing champ George Foreman

Looking for healthy, cholesterol-free foods, the group instead found a mother lode of artery-clogging dishes, such as the turkey deep-fried in peanut oil suggested in a book by singer Isaac Hayes

"Martha Stewart's book is a formula for chunky hips and heart disease," said PCRM president Neal Barnard in a statement.

"And the World Wrestling Federation's cookbook may well leave you down for the count."

None of the cookbooks rated by the physicians, including Somers' Get Skinny on Fabulous Food, included enough healthy recipes to be minimally acceptable, the PCRM statement said. – Albawaba.com.
