Prominent Lebanese singer Najwa Karam was expected to release a song talking about a humanitarian subject focusing on the financial and economical situation in Lebanon. Najwa had finished shooting the song under the direction of Saeed Marouq and produced by Lebanese TV channel LBC. Date of release was scheduled to be February 17, 2004 and LBC was going to dedicate an entire episode of its weekly program [Kalam El Nas] to the new video.
The song is already over two weeks late and no sufficient information has been given to the public on why the delay had occurred. After making several contacts with director and with the singer the only answer was “no comment” according to the London based Elaph. Sources revealed that the reason behind the mysterious delay of launching the song is due to the fact that the Lebanese Censorship Committee has forbidden for the song to go on air. It has been argued that the song is a controversial one and tackles political issues that should not be talked about.
In the past months, Najwa had vowed never to film any of her songs in the form of a music video, but despite her previous decision, she completed the shooting of a new clip for the new song under the direction of Saeed Al Marouq. Karam was to release the new hit single composed by Wisam Almeer, which tackles the economical and social conditions in Lebanon. The singer did not reveal why she decided to release a single song before launching her album.
Najwa's previous decision of not filming her songs came after the failure of her last music video for the song “Iw’a Itkoun Za’ilit” (I Hope Your are not Upset), which did not witness any interest among viewers or even herself. Najwa recently held two performances in Dubai and Kuwait, which were marked with success. Karam is in the process of preparing for her upcoming album, which is to be produced by Rotana Music Production Company, and has already chosen the songs after holding extensive work sessions with numerous composers and poets. The singer revealed that her new album will be ready for release by spring 2004.
After being absent for two years from participating in "Halla Febrayer" (Hello February) Festival, prominent Lebanese singer Najwa Karam held a concert on February alongside Fadel Shaker, Abdullah Ruweished, and Rabeh Sager. Najwa was so elegant and started the concert with a special song for the Kuwaiti fans and sung many of her hit songs finishing her concert by singing a specially made song for the Kuwaiti fans.
Shortly after the concert Najwa had an interview with Rotana channel and refused to disclose the surprise she was hiding for her fans in Lebanon, the funny thing is that Rotana had aired some news about a solo song by Najwa criticizing the social and economical situation in Lebanon without realizing that that was the surprise Najwa was hiding to her fans. –Albawaba.com
