ALBAWABA - Only a day after his opening monologue for Saturday Night Live (SNL), American Comedian Chris Rock has stirred controversy across social media over his comment about the recent murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

In his opening monologue, Chris Rock said, "He actually k*lled a man with a family, with kids. I have real condolences for the Healthcare CEO. This is a real person… but sometimes drug dealers get shot."

The comment in question received mixed reactions on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) with some users commending Rock's comedy and humor, while others called the joke "unfunny" as others jokingly demanded fellow actor Will Smith to slap Rock again, in reference to the 94th Academy Awards incident on Mar. 27, 2022.

One user wrote, "That's why Will Smith slapped his a**," and another added, "No lie there are very few ways to tell a joke about this worse than what Chris Rock chose."

Recently, UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was found dead outside the Hilton hotel in Manhattan after being fatally shot several times in the back by an unknown individual.

One of the suspects, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione was taken into custody after being spotted by a customer at a McDonald's chain in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Local police reported that Mangione was found in possession of a 3D-printed ghost gun and a letter that specified, "motivation and mindset," as reported by the BBC.

Mangione was taken into custody after being charged with murder and four other counts. He recently hired a high-profile attorney named Karen Friedman Agnifilo to support his case during his court hearing.
