Egyptian actress Wafa Makky appeals to the higher court to overturn the charges against her. After spending 3 year in prison for the charges of torturing her maids, Wafa Makky ask to be freed of all charges; however the higher court refused her request.

The higher court made sure that the decision that was made by the criminal court to incriminate is valid. Wafa was sentence for three years in prison and extra year for her mother, ex-husband, and cousin for participating in the act. They were all involved in torturing and sexually assaulting both maids Hanadi and Marwa Fikri Abd el Hamid. The maids were forced to take off their clothes and were tortured with hot knives to burn their private areas.

Wafa was incarcerated 2001 in Manoufieh north of Cairo, where she was prosecuted and was sentence to serve for 5 years in an Egyptian prison. She got to reduce her sentence to 3 years after opening her case in a different court and paying off the maids’ father.

Wafa Makky was freed last month after serving her full sentence. She declared that she was innocent of the charges against her and those charges were made by those who want to hurt her and her career. Makky also indicated that she wants to put the case behind her and to have a fresh start at her acting career.
