He might be stuck in a French prison as we speak, but Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred is still one of the most popular singers in the Middle East.
Saad, who was arrested in Paris on 'aggravated rape" charges in October, received over 100 million YouTube hits for his single "Mashi Sahel" in the first month of its release.
The song has apparently "caused Arabic music to ‘refresh’ in an unprecedented way," according to Arabic-speaking news source Le360.
"Mashi Sahel" is not only super popular, but it is the most watched Arabic song on YouTube. Not too shabby!
