Previous agreements by TV production official have stated that actors and directors cannot perform in more than one drama series to allow the largest number of participation to take place especially during Ramadan. This agreement was established to allow new faces to appear on the screen and new directors to take part by submitting their work at the most critical time of year for any TV production.

Most shows that are currently being aired this year have not stuck to the agreements in anyway according to the Egyptian daily Al Akhbar. Most actors and directors are taking up more than one role and discrediting any regulation that calls for fair distribution of roles.

Director Majdi Abu Ameera is one of the violators of this regulation by directing two TV series “A’yna Qalbi” (Where is my Heart) and “Juha Al Masri” (The Egyptian Juha). The actors who have disregarded any call for equality are Yousuf Sha’ban and Sumaia Ayoub staring in both “Ameera fi Abdeen” (Ameera in Abdeen) and “Said Al yaqin”. Izzat Abo O’uf took up three different jobs by starring in three series, “Juha Al Masri” (The Egyptian Juha), “Yahia Al Adl” (Long Lives Justice), and “Wal Khareef lan Ya’ti A’bad” (Fall Shall Never Come). Kamal Abu Rayyah, Mahmoud Qabeel, and Sawsan Badr are among the many actors who took up more than one role by performing in a number of TV drama series.

However, there are a number of prominent actors who only performed once in leading roles, to help maintain their good reputation and popularity. Nour El Sherif only stars in one drama series this Ramadan “Al Atar wal Sabi’ Banat” (The Spice Trader and the Seven Girls), in which he plays two different characters. Playing the character of the father ‘Al Hag Saleh’ and the son ‘Abdul Rahman’, who carries the profession of spice trading after his father’s death. Al Sherif’s goal in this series is to deliver a new vision about family life amid the cultural and social changes over the years.

Prominent Egyptian actress Yusra also takes up only one work this Ramadan in “A’yna Qalbi” (Where is my Heart) by playing the part of an architect and a single mother of two. Her loyalty to her profession causes her many problems as she discovers mistakes in most of building foundations she is working in. Yusra will have to face many enemies and struggles to overcome all obstacles to ensure security for her children.

Renowned actor Mohammad Subhi also takes up on work this Ramadan and possibly the most important among all in a drama series that has caused international controversy. “Faris Bila Jawad” (Knight without a Horse), with the participation of 200 actors and actresses, tackles issues like the “Zionist Conspiracy” to establish a Jewish state that extends from the Nile River in Egypt to the Euphrates in Iraq. Subhi takes the leading role in the 30-episode series and plays nine different characters, which depict Egyptian historical, social and political profiles since the Danshuwai incident in 1906.

Prominent actor Hussain Fahmi starrs in “Al Khareef lan Ya’ti Abadan”, Hassan Yousuf in “Imam Al Da’wa”, Samira Ahmad in “Ameera fi Abdeen”. Yahia Al Fakharani starred in “Juha Al Masr, Dalal Abdul Aziz in “Zaman Imad El Din”, and Mervat Amin in “Yahia Al Adl”. These actors only took up one job, which they believed was best helps their acting careers. They believed that acting in more than one drama series at one time causes an actor to loose focus and concentration causing their performance to be below their usual standards and not up to expectations. –Albawaba.com
