Gent, Belgium will hold its annual festival, Gent International, September 7th till the 22nd of the same month. Having been a major attraction for tourists and natives in the past years, the festival represents the national lure for different cultures, bringing them all to a meeting point. A first for Asalah’s Association to participate in Gent International; Gent International Board offered 150 squared meters for Asalah Association to setup an Egyptian showcase for the public, presenting various national artifacts.
Mr. Suleiman Awad, Egyptian Ambassador in Brussels, played an important role in coordinating the work for Egypt’s presence in Gent International. He also stated that the Egyptian wing of the festival would offer a diversity of professional handicraft, clothes and designs representing Egyptian culture.
An interlacing mixture of modernity and prehistoric culture, Gent, a couple of miles northwest Brussels happens to be the perfect location for an exquisite festival performance. The nucleus population of Gent began to grow near the confluence of the two rivers Scheldt and Leie. (The Flemish name 'Gent' is probably derived from the Celtic 'Ganda', which meant confluence).
