The Kuwaiti TV series Jurh al Zaman (Life Wound) has changed the rules of the Egyptian Satellite Channel which airs only Egyptian series, when the channel lately agreed for the first time to air a Gulf series.
“It is the first time for a Kuwaiti series to be aired by the Egyptian TV. This means the series in particular and the Kuwaiti drama in general are distinguished,” the series star Hayat al Fahed told the London-based daily al Sharq al Awsat.
She added, “the series continues recording smash hits with all the Arab satellite channels which I felt during my visits to many Arab countries.”
“Airing a Kuwaiti series by Drama Channel is considered a new and an unprecedented step which will contribute to spreading the Arab dialects everywhere and in Egypt in particular,” the head of the Nile Sector for Specialty Channels, Nagwa Abul Naga told the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat adding that the series Time wound would be followed by other series from Syria, Arab Maghreb and Lebanon.
This, the director says, comes as part of a new line of Arab and foreign productions that has been included in Drama Channel since the beginning of this year. The channel has begun screening films by Mohammed Malas from Syria and al Tayyeb al Wahishi from Morocco.
“The series Time Wound has been selected with care to mark the first Arabic productions to be aired by the Drama Channel. This is due to the fact that it is a unique series that was aired by Kuwait TV last Ramadan and recorded a smash hit. It tackles many issues including family disintegration, secret marriage, parents’ impiousness, late marriage, orphan money take over, Internet and youth problems. It ranked number one in all the gulf polls as the best gulf production aired last Ramadan,” added Abul Naga.
However, the series airing time coincides with Kuwait’s celebrations of its National Day.
On the other hand, the Egyptian Ministry of Information will give a reception party at Samiramis Hotel on February 6 in the honor of the series screenwriter Fajr al Said and stars including Hayat al Fahed, Ibrahin al Sallal, Mishari al Balam and its director Amer al Hmoud -- Albawaba.com
