The Arab music industry has once again come to life this Eid Al Fitr as stars batte it out for the coveted title of the highest selling record of the Muslim Holiday. And this season they've pulled no punches.
Albums that were created months ago have finally been allowed to see the light and the singers themselves - who have seemingly been hauled up in the recording studio all year - have been released back into the open to plug their tracks.
Fans of Egyptian singer Rami Sabri will be excited to hear he has taken a break from parenting duties to end his four year absence from the scene with the release of his album “Ma Al Ayam” (With the Days).
According to MBC.net, Sabri is joined by Syrian singer Asala Nasri who has finally released her album “Shakhsieh Aneeda” (A Stubborn Personality), which had been put on hold for several months. The 10-song album was created with the help of collaborations with some of the region's most popular poets and composers, including Tamer Ali, Ehab Abdel Wahed, Mohammad Yahia and many others.
Lebanese national and trans-regional pop-treasure Nancy Ajram, has also chosen to coincide the release her album “Ya Banat” (Oh Girls) with the Muslim holiday, after previously postponing it.
Egyptian singer Mohammad Hamakie has followed suit with the release of “Nifsi Abqa Janbuh” (I Wish I can Stay by His Side). And fellow star Sandi won't be bucking the trend as she too has released a new album "Asham Min Kiteer" (Better than Many).
Now we know who this year's Eid Al Fitr competitors are, it's onto round two - microphones at the ready!
