Just days ahead of Elissa's concert in Algeriafor the 50th anniversary of Algerian Independence, Lebanese sauce-pot Elissa has agreed with the organizers to don a rather conservative gown on stage for her own performance. In other compromises with the organizers and in deference to the national occasion, Elissa will, rather than sticking to her own repertoire and songs from her latest album “Asad Wahdah” (The Happiest One), happily be dedicating a special song for the late Algerian legendary singer Warda.
Heavy security measures have been taken to ensure that no harm comes to the provocative singerby campaigners upset at the cost of her extravagant concert. These activists who include Algerian Islamists have been issuing numerous threats on social site Facebook demanding that she calls off her imminent concert.
According to online MBC.net, insiders at the Algeria's Tourism and Culture Committee at Anaba, where the event will be held, revealed that this agreement and conciliatory measure struck with Elissa's agent for her conservative attire was secured to show respect to the traditional, conservative families that will be in attendence, July 2nd.
Reports reveal that style icon Elissa was very accomodating to the request and was keen to abide by the wishes of the organizers especially after getting local backs up in the lead to her concert. In view of the threats she's been subject to, it would appear she aims only to placate and bow to Algerian advice.
It emerged that over 300 police officers and 20 personal security guards have been assigned to ensure the sell-out singer’s safety and prevent any hostility at the concert and throughout her entire stay in Algeria. This entourage and high maintenance is probably not doing much for the cost-cutting campaign, nor to ingratiate her with the skeptical fans.
Elissa made Algerian enemies when it was leaked that her fee for Algeria was close to 90 thousand US dollars - an amount that is considered extravagant by many during distressed economical times in the Middle East and globally.
